For information on stock ownership (institutional shareholders or insiders) in individual companies, start with LSEG Workspace.  Once you've created your account, enter the company name or ticker in the Workspace search bar. Once the Overview page loads, you can select the "Ownership" tab.  There are a number of ownership options shown in the dropdown.

If you need ownership data at scale, a better option may be the LSEG Institutional (13f) Holdings - S34 data sets on WRDS.

  1. Login to or create your WRDS account.
  2. Select the "LSEG" data group from the data browser in WRDS.
  3. Select the "Institutional (13f) Holdings - S34" data sets group.

If you are in the Ford Library, you can also use Bloomberg for quick look-up of company stock ownership.

  1. After login, enter the company ticker, then <EQUITY> <GO>.
  2. Choose Company Info > Management Profile > Reported Holdings

For an overview of stocks that have experienced the most purchases and sales by insiders, type: INSD and press <GO>.  Then use the fields at the top of the screen to select country, time period, type of transaction. Click on a stock to display a graph of its historical prices with date of insider transactions.

For additional info, enter insider and press the green <HELP> key.
