Why isn't my Net ID working for database access following graduation?

Most library databases can be accessed by current students using the Duke Net ID and its password. But, database access is keyed to student affiliation. Once a student completes their degree coursework and/or graduates, their affiliation automatically changes to alumni

Ford Library staff cannot revert a graduated student's official alumni affiliation status in order to grant "extensions" for library database access.

Duke Libraries (and Ford Library's) databases are licensed only for access by current students. This is why the Net ID will not work for database access around/after graduation even though it continues to work for certain other university services.
